We use two strategies: (1) strip true PDF watermark objects (the embedded overlay layer), and (2) AI-based masking of rendered watermark pixels. Strategy 1 works for true watermarks added in Acrobat/Word. Strategy 2 works for "burned-in" watermarks but is best-effort.
Yes โ for short documents, summary runs entirely on-device. For longer documents, we route through OpenAI / Anthropic APIs but your file is sent as base64 over HTTPS, not stored, and not used for training. Set your own API key in settings to use your own account.
The PWA (install from your browser's address bar) works fully offline for compress, merge, split, metadata, remove-pages, and extract-images. OCR and AI Summary need internet for the AI models.
